Enemies appear in waves. You will recover a tiny bit after each enemy and a bit more after every wave. Each enemy varies in it's strength and it's weakness against spells. Try to find the best strategy for each one!

Way Home is written in C using my custom NRender multi-platform game/multimedia middleware.

NRender has been made over the course of the last few years to target fixed-function, fixed-point 32 bit machines - such as old PCs or the PlayStation 1 (try that version!). It is still very much work in progress. This game is it's first public test drive.

Many art assets have been taken from other great people (see credits below). Nevertheless, it was fun trying out some low-tech animation techniques and make them work across a modern target like web browsers as well as old school ones like the PlayStation.

No licensing-restricted documentation, tools, libraries or drivers have been used to make this game. This includes the PSX version, which utilizes custom GPU/SPU/CD-ROM drivers, a custom firmware interface and other auxiliary components.

Install instructions

The PSX version should run on just about every emulator. Known working ones include Mednafen (try running with -force_module psx), Duckstation and PCSX-Redux.
Please make sure to disable any HLE BIOS your emulator might offer.

This should also work oN real hardware as long as it has been modded to accept any-region unlicensed discs.

Initial loading times will vary depending on the exact setup used, but should be somewhere around 10 seconds.
